I recently had the pleasure of photographing Parth and Sonia’s wedding reception at Seasons Quayside in Leith, Edinburgh. Earlier that day, they had tied the knot at Edinburgh City Chambers, and I joined them later to capture the celebrations, family photos, and couples portraits. It was a relaxed, joyful evening, and a great example of how flexible wedding photography can be. I am always happy to tailor my wedding packages to suit each couple’s plans, whether that’s a full day or just an evening celebration.
Seasons Quayside is one of Leith’s hidden gems. Set along Commercial Quay, this stylish venue and bar sits right on the waterfront inside a beautifully restored former whisky warehouse. The space has loads of charm and atmosphere, perfect for smaller weddings and private events.
Just outside, there is a large ship (The Ocean Mist) permanently moored beside the venue, creating a striking backdrop for photos. The reflections from the water and the soft evening light gave us an amazing setting for portraits.
I arrived about an hour before guests to capture a relaxed couples session by the waterfront, followed by some family formals. The light was soft and golden, perfect for portraits. Sonia looked stunning in her wedding dress, and the two of them were a joy to photograph.
While I worked with the couple outside, my second photographer captured details of the venue and candid moments as guests arrived. The atmosphere was warm and full of anticipation.
The newlyweds made their entrance through a tunnel of cheering guests, all holding their phone torches in the air. It was a fun and emotional moment that set the tone for the evening.
Dinner was an impressive buffet of oriental dishes, full of flavour and beautifully presented. The speeches followed, with heartfelt words from the groom, best man and maid of honour that had everyone laughing and tearing up in equal measure.

Once the formalities were done, the DJ filled the dance floor and the party really began. Before heading home, I joined the guests for a quick alcohol free beer (I was driving), a perfect way to round off a fantastic evening.
Even though I only covered the reception, the evening was full of emotion, laughter and connection. It just goes to show that a wedding story can be told beautifully even in a few hours. Parth and Sonia’s day was a reminder of why I love what I do: real people, real moments, and memories that last a lifetime.
