Over the past few years, I've noticed something interesting when looking back through the wedding galleries I've delivered. Of course, some of the most popular photographs are exactly what you'd expect: the first kiss, walking down the aisle, the big moments and the candid interactions that tell the story of the day. But another group consistently stood out: photographs of the guests themselves.

People travel considerable distances to attend weddings and spend weeks, sometimes months, choosing what to wear and getting ready for the occasion. While my role as a wedding photographer is focused on capturing those moments naturally and candidly, I've noticed just how much people value a more formal portrait when given the opportunity. The download numbers backed this up. Formal guest portraits were consistently among the most popular images in the galleries, often downloaded far more than the candid photographs and dancefloor chaos. That got me thinking.

Why simply document the people attending an event when we could also give them the opportunity to have a professional portrait of themselves to remember the occasion?

I started experimenting with this approach at events where I could create a small professional studio. I used similar setups for corporate headshots and, more recently, at a high school prom. The prom really confirmed the idea. I expected to spend most of the evening capturing candid moments, but instead found myself busy at the portrait studio almost all night. Once again, the formal portraits were downloaded far more often than the candid photographs.

The demand for prints was just as striking. People loved having a physical photograph to take home, showing that even in a digital world, there is still something special about having a photograph you can hold and keep. That was when the idea for Celebration Portraits really began to take shape.

I wanted to create something that felt different from a traditional photo booth. Rather than simply taking a photograph and sending it straight to a printer, Celebration Portraits brings a genuine professional portrait studio to your event.

Every portrait is taken using the same professional cameras, lenses and studio lighting I use for my wedding photography. The images are then professionally edited and retouched, including the removal of temporary blemishes, before being printed on professional photographic equipment during the event.

And the experience doesn't end there. After the event, the fully edited, high resolution images are uploaded to an online gallery, allowing guests to download their photographs and order larger prints, canvases and other products if they wish.
