What sets you apart from a photo booth?
We give your guests their own moment in the spotlight
Celebration Portraits gives your guests the chance to step away from the celebrations and enjoy a genuine professional portrait experience. We use professional cameras, lenses and studio lighting, not an iPad or basic photo-booth camera, to create portraits that look and feel like proper photography.
Every image is professionally edited and retouched before being printed, giving your guests a beautiful portrait to take home and remember the occasion by.
Will it distract from my wedding photographer?
Not at all. Celebration Portraits is designed to complement your day rather than interrupt it. Guests can visit the studio when it suits them, typically during the drinks reception, while you continue enjoying your wedding or having your own couples portraits taken by your main photographer.
As a wedding photographer myself, I understand how important it is that everyone working at your wedding complements the main photography rather than competes with it. I regularly work alongside other photographers and suppliers, so I understand how to work around the timings and flow of the day.
We see our services as complementary, not competing. Your wedding photographer is there to capture the story of your day naturally, while Celebration Portraits gives your guests a dedicated opportunity to step in front of the camera and enjoy a professional portrait experience of their own.
There’s no need for everyone to queue or gather at once, the studio simply becomes another part of the experience for your guests to enjoy.
Can guests have more than one photo and print?
Absolutely. Guests can return to the studio throughout the evening and have different combinations of people photographed and printed.
How Long have you been doing Portraits at Events?
I started experimenting with professional portrait setups at events in mid-2025, building on the studio lighting and portrait experience I had already developed through my corporate headshot work.
Since then, I’ve taken the setup to corporate events, school proms and weddings whenever the venue has had suitable space and the event schedule has allowed. Over time, I found that people really enjoyed the experience, particularly having a professionally finished portrait and a physical print to take home.
Celebration Portraits has grown from that experience, bringing a dedicated professional portrait studio to your event rather than simply adding a few portraits to the usual event photography.
Do you charge travel expenses?
We will cover anywhere in central Scotland for no additional fee. Anything further afield will incur a small additional charge for mileage, but we'll agree that in advance.
What equipment do you use?
I use professional photography equipment throughout the Celebration Portraits experience, including a Nikon Z8 paired with either a NIKKOR Z 50mm f/1.2 S or NIKKOR Z 24–70mm f/2.8 S lens, depending on the space and the type of portraits being taken. These are both amongst the best lenses money can buy as your guests deserve the best.
Professional studio lighting is used to create consistent, flattering portraits, and each image is professionally edited before being printed on a DNP professional photo printer, producing high-quality prints for your guests to take home.
The combination of professional cameras, lenses, lighting and dedicated photographic printing equipment means the experience is designed to deliver proper studio-quality portraits rather than typical photo-booth images.
